Transfer agents record changes of ownership, maintain the issuer's security holder records, cancel and issue certificates, and distribute dividends. Because transfer agents stand between issuing companies and security holders, efficient transfer agent operations are critical to the successful completion of secondary trades. SEC rules and regulations are intended to facilitate the prompt and accurate clearance and settlement of securities transactions and that assure the safeguarding of securities and funds. Section 17A(c) of the 1934 Act requires that transfer agents be registered with the SEC, or if the transfer agent is a bank, with a bank regulatory agency. More information on Transfer agents can be found here: https://www.sec.gov/divisions/marketreg/mrtransfer.
CUSIP stands for Committee on Uniform Securities Identification Procedures. A CUSIP number identifies most financial instruments, including: stocks of all registered U.S. and Canadian companies, commercial paper, and U.S. government and municipal bonds. The CUSIP system (formally known as CUSIP Global Services)—owned by the American Bankers Association and managed by Standard & Poor’s—facilitates the clearance and settlement process of securities. More information on CUSIP numbers can be found here: https://www.sec.gov/answers/cusip.
No. You can request a statement of your holding by emailing online@equitystock.com. Since you can’t trade securities through the transfer agent many investors do not opt for online access. Moreover, if you are moving your Series V shares from your brokerage firm to Upstream there is little need to set up online access. You may request online access to your Equity Stock Transfer account however there is an associated fee that is not covered by BTCS Inc.
